Hello Social Influencer!

Do you need some help understanding the specifics around authenticating on Keyhole? Do you have questions around what we can and cannot do if your account is authenticated? Well, we've got you covered! Read below to learn more about the authentication process:

First question, what is authentication and why do I need to authenticate my account?

Authentication is the process of logging into your account through a specialized link sent to you by Keyhole. By logging into the link and accepting all of the checkboxes, you are granting permission for Keyhole to access more metrics from your account, such as follower insights, story mentions, or boosted vs organic post metrics. You are able to see these metrics on your end, so now you are sharing them with Keyhole.

Without authenticating, Keyhole is still able to access public metrics from your account.

Okay, so how do I authenticate my account?

The agency or marketing guru you're working with will send you a hyperlink through Keyhole. Once you click on the link, it will direct you to a page that looks like this:

Click on the social media network you're going to authenticate and follow the prompts to log-in.

Tricky Spots when Authenticating:

  • You need to have a Business Account on Facebook to authenticate. Keyhole cannot authenticate a private social media page.

  • Your Instagram page must be a Creator or Business page AND be connected to Facebook to be authenticated. You'll notice that Instagram authentication occurs through Facebook.

**Both of these tricky spots are due to Meta API restrictions**

I've made it to the checkbox page - yay! But do I really need to agree to all of the checkboxes? Will you have control over my account?

Once you login, you will be directed to a checkbox page that looks like the following:

Instagram / Facebook:

Twitter:

We understand that the boxes make to seem like we'll have full control over your account and be able to post, comment, or edit your social site without your knowledge.

Please be aware, we will have NO CONTROL over any aspect of your account.

The only part of your account we will access are your metrics - such as follower insights, Instagram stories, account mentions, etc. Due to API limitations, we need to have you ACCEPT ALL of the checkboxes for the authentication process to work.

Think of authenticating as you approving an agreement between Keyhole and Instagram / Twitter / Facebook / LinkedIn to allow your agency or marketing guru to view more insights.

Whew! You made it! You're now authenticated!
