How to Use Optimization
Optimization helps you improve future content by showing what’s worked best—when to post, how long your captions should be, and which hashtags actually drive engagement. While the Dashboard tells you what happened, Optimization shows you what to do next.
To get started: Go to Profile Analytics, select the account you want to analyze, then click Optimization in the left-hand navigation.
Optimal Post Time
This heatmap shows when your posts get the most engagement.
Days are listed down the left, hours across the top
Darker orange = higher average engagement
Hover to see how many posts were published in that slot and how they performed
Toggle between Engagements and Post Frequency to compare behavior and results
🔍 Key Insights to Look For
Top-performing time slots: Dark orange blocks show when your content performs best—use these times to schedule important posts.
Activity gaps: If you’re not posting during high-engagement slots, adjust your schedule to take advantage of them.
Timing patterns: Look for consistency across specific days or times (e.g., every Tuesday morning). These are high-potential content windows.
Frequency vs. results: Use the toggle to spot if you’re posting more during low-performing slots—then reallocate posting times.
Best Times to Post
This chart gives you a quick list of your top-performing days and times.
If you're using Keyhole Publishing, the Schedule Next Post button lets you take action instantly.
🔍 Key Insights to Look For
Best of the best: Use these windows for time-sensitive or high-priority posts—like launches, sales, or announcements.
Consistency cues: If the same day or time appears frequently, treat it as a priority window.
Testing ground: Try scheduling new post types (Reels, carousels, video) during these top slots to maximize visibility.
Optimal Post Length
This section shows how different caption lengths perform.
Posts are grouped into ranges like (e.g., 141-280, 281-560 characters)
Each bar shows how many posts fell into that range and the average engagement for that range
🔍 Key Insights to Look For
Winning length ranges: Find your “sweet spot”—some audiences respond better to short captions, others to storytelling.
Content style alignment: High performance in shorter captions? Emphasize punchy CTAs. Longer caption wins? Double down on storytelling or informative posts.
Avoid drop-offs: If engagement drops sharply beyond a certain length, keep your posts within the high-performing range.
Top Hashtags by Engagement
See which hashtags brought in the most engagement during the selected date range.
Hashtags are ranked by total engagements
You’ll see how often each tag was used and how it performed
Some views let you toggle between Engagements and Frequency
🔍 Key Insights to Look For
High-performing hashtags: Stick with tags that consistently drive engagement—they’re reaching the right audience.
Overused/underperforming: If a hashtag is used often but shows low engagement, consider removing it from future posts.
Niche vs. broad: Compare performance of industry-specific tags vs. broader terms—refine your hashtag mix accordingly.
Optimal Number of Hashtags
This chart shows how the number of hashtags impacts engagement.
Groups posts by how many hashtags they included (e.g., 0, 1–3, 4–6, 7+)
Compares the average engagements per group
🔍 Key Insights to Look For
Ideal range: If engagement peaks at 3–5 hashtags, aim for that range in future posts.
Overstuffing penalty: A drop in engagement at higher hashtag counts can indicate spammy perception—scale back.
Test and iterate: Track performance if you try a new hashtag range—this chart helps you validate those changes.
Average Engagements by Day
A snapshot of how different days of the week perform.
Each bar represents average engagement per post, grouped by weekday
Use it to guide your scheduling decisions
🔍 Key Insights to Look For
High-performing days: Double down on content for your best days. Use them for announcements or launches.
Low-response days: Avoid scheduling priority posts on days with lower engagement—or use them for lower-risk experiments.
Balance and planning: Use this chart to even out your content calendar. If most of your engagement happens early in the week, consider shifting more content to those days.
