Facebook’s API limits broad keyword tracking, but Keyhole can monitor posts from authenticated accounts and specified public pages that use the hashtags or keywords in your Listening & Campaign trackers.
This guide walks you through setting up Facebook tracking for authenticated and specified accounts.
⚠️ IMPORTANT: To track keywords from specific accounts, they must be public Facebook Pages added to Account Watchlist or Profile Analytics. Additionally, at least one authenticated account is required to track specified accounts.
Authenticate Your Facebook Account
To track posts from Facebook pages, you must authenticate an account. There are two ways to do this:
1. Authenticating Your Own Facebook Account
If you're tracking your own pages, use Profile Analytics:
1. Go to Profile Analytics in Keyhole.
2. Click Add New Profile, then select Add Authenticated Profile and choose Facebook.
3. Click Authenticate and Log in with Facebook.
4. Once connected, you can track:
Impressions
Engagement (likes, comments, shares)
Reach
2. Authenticating Influencer or Public Pages
To monitor posts from influencers or other public pages, you can add them to the Account Watchlist:
1. Go to Listening & Campaigns in Keyhole.
2. Select Account Watchlist and click Add Account.
3. Enter the Facebook Page handle.
4. Click Save Now to confirm.
Once authenticated, Keyhole will track any posts from these pages that contain your specified hashtags or keywords.
Alternatively, you can add influencer pages via Profile Analytics:
1. Go to Profile Analytics and click Add New Profile.
2. Select Add Any Public Profile instead of Add Authenticated Profile.
3. Once added, go to the profile in Profile Analytics and click Authenticate.
Tracking Keywords from Specified Accounts
While Facebook does not allow general keyword tracking, you can track keywords used in posts from the specific public pages you add, without needing to authenticate:
1. Open Listening & Campaigns in Keyhole.
2. Go to Trackers and select an existing tracker or create a new one.
3. Open Tracker Settings and go to Filters.
4. Under Get posts from these accounts, add the public Facebook pages you want to track.
⚠️ IMPORTANT: Facebook only allows tracking of posts from public pages that you specify, and both authenticated and specified pages must be added to your tracker.
Personal Facebook accounts and private group posts cannot be tracked.
If you enter a keyword like "Hawaii", Keyhole will only track posts containing that keyword or hashtag from the public pages you’ve added.
