Facebook’s API Limitations

Due to Facebook’s API limitations, Keyhole cannot track general keywords across all public posts. However, you can:

  • Track posts from authenticated Facebook Pages (your own or influencers’)

  • Monitor hashtags or keywords from specific public pages that you add to your tracker

This guide walks you through setting up both options.

⚠️ IMPORTANT: You must authenticate at least one Facebook account to track any specified pages. Posts can only be tracked from public Facebook Pages—not personal profiles or private groups.

Authenticate Your Facebook Account

Before tracking posts, you need to connect at least one Facebook account. There are two ways to do this, depending on whether you’re tracking your own page or monitoring others.

Option 1: Authenticating Your Own Facebook Account (via Profile Analytics)

If you're tracking your own pages, use Profile Analytics:

1. Go to Profile Analytics in Keyhole

2. Click Add New Profile, then select Add Authenticated Profile and choose Facebook.

3. Click Authenticate and Log in with Facebook

4. Once connected, you can track:

  • Impressions

  • Engagement (likes, comments, shares)

  • Reach

Option 2: Authenticating Influencer or Public Pages (via Account Watchlist)

To monitor posts from influencers or other public pages, you can add them to the Account Watchlist:

1. Go to Listening & Campaigns in Keyhole

2. Select Account Watchlist, then Add Account

3. Enter the Facebook Page handle

4. Click Save Now to confirm

Once authenticated, Keyhole will track any posts from these pages that contain your specified hashtags or keywords.

Alternatively, you can use Profile Analytics to authenticate any public page:

1. Go to Profile Analytics > Add New Profile

2. Select Add Any Public Profile (instead of Add Authenticated Profile)

3. Once added, go to the profile in Profile Analytics and click Authenticate

Tracking Keywords from Specified Facebook Accounts

While Facebook does not allow general keyword tracking, you can track keywords used in posts from the specific public pages you add, without needing to authenticate.

1. Open Listening & Campaigns in Keyhole

2. Go to Trackers and select an existing tracker or create a new one

3. Open Tracker Settings and go to Filters

4. Under Get posts from these accounts, add the public Facebook pages you want to track
