Please note that you exit out of the ‘Add New Brand’ flow at any time by clicking the cross (X) on the top right-hand corner of the screen.
To add a New Brand:
Step 1: Click on ‘Add New’ button on the top left-hand corner of your screen.
Step 2: You will be prompted to choose what kind of brand you want to add. These are the two options:
A Brand I Manage: Choose this option if you have log-in information for the social media accounts of the brand you want to monitor. This is usually the brand you represent, or it may be a client’s brand that you manage. Logging in to the brand’s social media accounts allows you to access more in-depth data about the brand’s followers, as well as how these accounts are performing online.
A Brand I Don’t Manage: Choose this option if you don’t have log-in information for the social media accounts of the brand you want to monitor. This is usually a competitor, a client or a subsidiary.
You can still learn a lot about a brand’s audience and how their accounts are performing online without logging in, through aggregated public data.
Note: If you have login information for a brand but can’t remember it, you can always choose ‘A Brand I Don’t Manage’ and add a connection later through the Settings Page on your left side bar.
Step 3: Next, you will be prompted to type in the name of the brand you want to start monitoring (e.g. Nike). Keyhole will look for online mentions of the brand name that you input here.
Once you are done, click ‘Choose Platforms’. You can also choose to ‘Skip this Step’ by clicking on the link. You will be taken to step 5 ‘Add Accounts’.
Note: Once you have started monitoring the brand, you will be able to change the brand keyword you input or add more under Settings:
Step 4: After that, you will be asked to Choose Platforms to listen to. Select the platforms that Keyhole should monitor for mentions this brand’s name. Once you are done, click ‘Add Accounts’.
Note: Once you have started monitoring the brand, you will be able to change the platforms you want to monitor a brand in by selecting or deselecting the platforms under Settings:
Step 5: As a final step, you will be asked to Add Accounts. What you see here depends on what you chose in step 2:
a. You are monitoring a brand you manage.
If you are monitoring a brand you manage, you will be asked to connect log in to the brand’s social media accounts. Simply click on the platform you want to connect and follow the instructions to connect your account.
b. You are monitoring a brand you don’t manage.
If you are monitoring a brand you don’t manage, you will still be able to connect the brand’s Twitter, Facebook and YouTube accounts. For privacy reasons, Instagram does not allow third parties to monitor accounts they don’t have access to.
Here’s how to connect an account you don’t have login information for:
- If you see an input field next to the icon of the social media platform you wish to connect, you can simply input the details. This will automatically start suggesting social media accounts that may belong to that brand. Select the account you want to track.
- If you don’t see an input field next to the icon of the social media platform you wish to connect, that means you need to add an access key.
An access key builds a connection between your Keyhole account and the platform you want to listen to. You need to have at least one access key for each platform you want to monitor.
- First, log in to any account on the social media platform you want to listen to.
- Once you have added an access key, you will be an input field next to the platform. You will now be able to input the name of the brand you want to monitor into the text box and select the account you want to monitor from the dropdown.
Please note that adding an access key will not count as one of the accounts you add, and we will not start monitoring moving forward.
